Parental nagging

If you’re anything like I am, if my parents ask me to do something, I might do it. The more they ask me to do it, the less inclined I am to do it. This can be a problem if the thing they are nagging you about is your practice.

Of course, they wouldn’t be nagging you if you were already doing your practice, so that goes without saying. However, we’ve got to the situation where they’re nagging, and the more they nag, the less you want to practice. So, what can we do?

Well, the unfortunate thing is that you’re going to have to talk to your parents. You’ll need to tell them that you feel the more that they nag, the less you want to practice. So get them to agree that for one week they won’t nag you about your practice. Tell them of what your teacher has asked you to prepare for the next lesson, and have the condition that if you don’t get that complete, then they can continue to nag you about your practice. However, if you complete the tasks, then it’s another week without them nagging.

This way, the power is in your hands. If you want them to stop nagging, then you’re going to have to get out of that seat and start practicing.

Are your parents the nagging types? Do you have some other ideas on how to stop them nagging?
